Spring House, Nancy's Place

Oil, 16 x 20. This was painted on a very hot day, when I participated in a painting excursion to an estate in Loudoun County mentored by Ed Cooper. In March, 2007, it was accepted in the juried Art League of Alexandria show at the Torpedo Factory. In June, 2011, it was juried into the annual artReston show and received a Third Place.

In this image (to left) you can see afew revisions to the original "plein air" painting (which I've included below.) I softened the top edge of the spring house so that the tree behind the house doesn't look like it's sitting on top ofthe house. and I lightenedthe shade of greenish-grey on a block on the front of the house so that it didn't pull the eye so much.
